Government Degree College Uri was established in 2005 by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir under the visionary leadership of then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. The college was conceived as part of the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Plan with the specific mission of bringing higher education to the remote, border region of Uri in the Baramulla district.
